No longer up for sale, Chloé has confirmed some ambitious plans for expansion in the near future (according to a recent WWD article). Plans for a new fragrance, events to propel diffusion brand See By Chloé, new retail concepts, developing the jewelry and footwear lines, and further expansions into China are all in the works.
This comes after several months of reports suspecting that Richemont was planning to sell the company to focus on more profitable hard luxury (watches and jewelry) companies within its portfolio. Perhaps Chloé, which has a big accessories business, is performing better than Richemont expected. Richemont has confirmed it will provide Chloé with the investment needed to make these developments.
Indeed over recent years the brand has experienced a revolving door of head designers — Stella McCartney, Phoebe Philo (that’s when I worked there!), Hanna MacGibbon, and now Waight Keller who seems poised to stay a while longer. Let’s hope so.
