A slice of Brazil in the heart of Lisbon.

It’s always hard to find a seat at one of the outdoor tables at this popular local bar & petiscos (tapas) in the Principe Real ‘hood of Lisbon.

That’s always a good sign.

Jobim was opened by Brazilian-born actor, Thiago Rodriquges (he appeared on Portugal’s soap opera Valor da Vida), as well as his two partners – António Almeida the sommelier, and Pedro Ivo de Carvalho, the owner of the Deli that originally occupied the space.  Jobim’s name derives one of Brazil’s most celebrated composers, Tom Jobim, known for internationalizing Bossa Nova – aka the “father of Bossa Nova”.

Jobim has definitely brought the soul of Brazil to Lisbon.

The atmosphere is so alive, it’s almost as if the bar is vibrating. People spilling into the street on this crowded corner are laughing or engaged in animated conversations.  Or if you are inside, you can enjoy Bossa Nova music filling the air as the friendly staff churns out drink after drink, or yummy Mediterranean snacks such as their classic baked potato with aioli sauce, humus and olive tapenade, or gratinado Ibérico which is a marinated pork shoulder in a cherry confit with melted Iberian cheese.

Plus, Jobim is dog friendly.  We happily approve.  Woof woof!
