Glass blower artist Jean-Michel Othoniel has created a three-part glass sculpture with strings of gold leaf that will be installed in the reflecting pools at Versailles’ restored Water Theater grove. Inspired by the ballets of the courts of Louis XIV, the sculpture will sprout water from its gold-leaf glass bubbles, creating a nymph-like choreography of dancing.
For the past two decades, Othoniel has been working with the world’s finest glass blowers: in Murano in Venice, Monterrey in Mexico, Sapporo in Japan and Firozabad in India. He currently has his atelier in the center of the Marais.
