At a stone’s throw from the majestic Castelo de S Jorge, and with jaw-dropping views of the Tagus River and surrounding Lisbon architecture, the Portas do Sol Café and Restaurant is perched high an mighty and with lots of room to spare. Upon entering the vast premises, we were initially cautious — what with all of the usual signs of tourist-trappings in full evidence: a hard to find menu, a sporadic staff presence, lots of tourists, and a glamorous arrangement of sofas, armchairs, canapés and plants.  And yet, the Portas is anything but.  Prices are normal.  The food is delicious.  The staff super friendly.  And the place is barely ever half full.  Within one week, we were there three times.  You do the math.
