Where the Lisbonites escape for the weekend.

Located in the picturesque village of Alcochete – directly across the Tagus River from Lisbon – the Quinta da Praia das Fontes was built in the 16th century as the residence of the Marquês de Soydos.

Later visited by several Portuguese Kings and Presidents, over the centuries it was continuously renovated and improved, adding the magnificent Portuguese tile paintings in the main building, and later a restaurant and tennis court.  Today it operates as a quaint lodge-estate offering a delicious breakfast, a tranquil pool surrounded by lush gardens, and access to several games and bicycles during the daytime.

The Quinta’s proximity to the beach – only 7 minutes by foot – as well as to the historic center of Alcochete where you can visit local shops and restaurants, is why so many Lisbonites come here on the weekend with their luxury cars and LV bags.
