Yes, we were drawn to this river’s delicious eatery.

We have all seen the Someone Feed Phil episode in Lisbon when he dines at Ponto Final, a restaurant bordering the Tagus river (literally: you sit along the river on a stone walkway) across from Lisbon with a view of the Ponte 25 de Abril and, hopefully, some dolphins swimming by.

We also love that restaurant.  It’s amazing.  The food is delicious.  The staff superb.  And the location spectacular.

But one day we decided to try out its stylish neighbour, Atira-te ao Rio.  It’s right next door (river-side wise), with a similarly stunning view.  There was also a line-up.  And it’s also better to make a reservation in advance (we hadn’t).

As it turns out, Atira-te ao Rio is next level.  Yes, it is traditional Portuguese cuisine.  But it’s got a certain level-up twist.  The grilled garlic shrimps are simple and yet so elegantly presented in a garlic and parsley jus (nearly *all* of the tables had ordered them at least once).  The linguine nero com camarao (black linguini with shrimp) is served with chilli and peanuts in a citrus juice.  And the duck magret with mushroom risotto is cooked perfectly and cuts like butter.

With in-season ingredients sourced locally, sea fish delivered daily, and the view of Lisbon twinkling in the background, this is a no-brainer.  Just go.
