Originally opened in the summer of 2016 as a market for local farmers by the founders of super-hip brunch spot Fabergé in Mile-End, the Marché Des Eclusiers today is dedicated to showcasing the best products Quebec has to offer. The marché brings together a community of producers, traders and consumers conscious of their diet, their ecological footprint and the sustainable development of local products such as veggies, fruits, fromage, jerky, skin care, and maple syrup.
Once you pass through the white arches, you can grab a spot along one of their benches, curl up in a plush sofa, or sink into one of their swings right along the water, facing the now defunct silos of Canada Malting that loom in the background like sad reminders of an era long gone. The establishment consists of five different restaurants available on two levels, offering everything from smoothies & oysters to burgers & frites.
Least but not last: this be a dog-friendly spot. Pooches of all sizes and breeds are welcome with open paws.
