Surfer’s Delight
Super Tubes is a world-fame beach located in Peniche, Portugal, which is the most western point in Europe. This is why they catch some pretty sick waves, and it’s also why they hold the Rip Curl world championships. Peniche is a sleepy fishing village that kind of feels like a ghost town when you walk through the streets — either because they are completely empty, or punctuated with the occasional retiree.
On one end of the beach is a laid back surf club with amazing food and even better views. We went there for a late lazy afternoon lunch and were delighted by what we tasted. The fish soup is one of their classics, made from a variety of 8 or more fish and even more types of vegetables. We decided to accompany it with their hand cut sweet potato fries, and their deep fried cuttlefish nuggets breaded in corn bread, served with a lime aioli. Oh MG, my mouth just started filling with saliva.
