This building was for decades a landmark in Huntsville: The Bookcase was full of books of all kinds, most of them about Huntsville and the surrounding area, rounded out by a delightful selection of children’s books.  We were all sad when their doors closed a few years ago and ownership of this historic building kept changing as various restaurants and boutiques would creep up and fade away.

Enter Café Wilgress with its cuteness factor nine.  Without letting a single detail fall by the wayside, this thoughtful café and wine bar owns the best view of  downtown Huntsville, the river and bridge, Main Street, and people watching.  With a front terrace, adorable interior, and back space, you can change up the atmos while sipping vintages from Argentina, Italy, Chile, New Zealand, and Ontario.

Oh – and their food is also amazing.  Seared tuna nicoise, ceviche, roasted almonds, shrimp & cucumber salad.
